Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

  1. Your community is planning to build an airport. Predict 2 ways the construction will affect the ecosystem. Predict 2 ways the newly constructed airport will affect the ecosystem.
  1. Your city wants to build a new housing development.  Write a letter to your city’s mayor to explain at least three ways in which this construction will impact the ecosystem.

  1. Student will use proper format used in letter writing.  Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
    • Destroy animal habitat.
    • Some animal populations will decrease.  This will cause other animal populations to change.

    • Light pollution
