Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities

  1. Sophia made 2,000 mL of punch for her party.  At the end of the party there was still 52 mL left over.  How much was drank during the party?

  2. Bianca is making cookies and the recipe calls for 2 cups of flour.  If she wants to make four batches, how many cups of sugar will she use?
  1. Alex is planning a party.  He plans for each guest to drink about 800 mL each.  If he is expecting twenty guests, how much should he plan on them drinking?  Show your work.

  2. Mr. Chang wanted to split up his load of apples into smaller tubs for display in his store.  If he has 125 pounds of apples to split up between five tubs, how much will each tub hold?  Show your work.
  1. If the maximum weight allowed on a given horse trailer is 3,000 kg, can an owner transport five horses weighing in at 700 kg each?  Why or why not?
