Description
After learning and repeating numerous nursery rhymes, children will use a familiar nursery rhyme such as "Humpty Dumpty," or "Jack and Jill" that will require them to supply a rhyming word to complete a revised version. e.g. Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall , Humpty Dumpty had a great fall . might become
Humpty Dumpty sat on a chair , Humpty Dumpty jumped in the air . OR
Humpty Dumpty sat on a bed , Humpty Dumpty bumped his head .
Humpty Dumpty sat on a chair , Humpty Dumpty jumped in the air . OR
Humpty Dumpty sat on a bed , Humpty Dumpty bumped his head .
The teacher will list the "new" rhymes on a chart. Children will have opportunities to role play the actions of the original and revised rhymes.
Children can also draw pictures to illustrate the rhymes.
