Using Text Features to Gain Information from Informational Text

Objectives

Students will develop book/print knowledge from informational texts. Students will:

  • identify text features, such as photographs, drawings, headings, and labels in informational texts.
  • identify information found in the table of contents of informational texts.
  • identify information found in the glossary of informational texts.
  • explain how text features support the text as well as give additional information.

      (It shows parts of the book and the page on which each part begins in the book.)
    3. Ask, “On which page does the part of the book about apples begin?” (page 1)
