You may use pudding, playdough, finger paint, a salt tray, a sand tray, a glitter tray, or a "mud" tray (potting soil and water), instead of shaving cream.
Provide a card with the child's name printed on it so the child can practice independently.
Description
Fill a small tray with shaving cream and allow the child to explore the medium. Demonstrate how to correctly form the first letter of his/her name. Let the child practice forming the letter. When he/she has mastered the first letter, you may introduce the next one. Allow time for the child to practice forming the next letter. You may keep this activity interesting by using a variety of substances.
