Description

Show Me the Future is an online program that allows students to be given a career with a specific salary and then they make personal lifestyle choices and see if the salary that they make is enough to support those choices.  The game also allows for those unexpected events that occur in life that can effect financial strength.

Rationale

This program gets the students to begin thinking about financial goals and lifestyle choice as it relates to career and salary.  It also looks at financial planning and how that is an important piece to selecting a career.

Mapping Your Future’s Show Me the Future is a financial literacy and life skills game, designed to help 12-20 year olds prepare for their futures.  The game helps players understand:

  • the cost of living;
  • budgeting, which is vital to financial freedom;
  • the difference between wants and needs;
  • the importance of financial planning;
  • the need to set career goals; and
  • the value of higher education.

Mapping Your Future welcomes the use of this game in the classroom and at home.  Users are encouraged to play over and over, as they will have different identities each time, helping them base their choices on those varying circumstances.
