Description

John Burnside (b. 1955) is the author of nine collections of poetry and five works of fiction. Burnside has achieved wide critical acclaim, winning the Whitbread Poetry Award in 2000 for The Asylum Dance which was also short listed for the Forward and T. S. Eliot prizes. From this page, you can hear the voice of John Burnside reading three of his poems, "De Humani Corporis Fabrica," "The Good Neighbour," and "Animals."

It came into being as a result of a meeting, in a recording studio, between Andrew Motion, soon after he became U.K. Poet Laureate in 1999, and the recording producer, Richard Carrington.
