The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

- Define prediction.
- Define observation.
- The invention of the telephone changed many things. Predict an effect of this invention.
- You observe that your school has started to serve more fruits and vegetables at lunch. What may happen as a result of this change?
- You notice that an animal has sharp teeth and claws. Hypothesize what kind of food this animal might eat.
- You have two dogs of the same breed. You feed them different brands of dog food. You notice one dog that eats Brand A has more energy and is growing at a faster rate than the dog that eats Brand B. Draw conclusions as to why this happens.

- An observation is defined as a statement about something you have noticed; a comment or remark.
