Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities

  1. Define observe.
  1. Identify one weather variable you are able to observe.
  1. Explain how one can observe and measure wind.
  1. Develop a logical argument as to why we should observe and measure weather variables.

  1. Observe means to watch and listen to.  
  1. Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to: precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, temperature
  1. Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
  • You could observe the ways trees or other plants blew.
  • You could throw something in the air and see what direction it blows.
  • A weather vane can be used to determine the wind’s direction
  • A anemometer can be used to measure the wind’s speed
  1. Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
  • Observing and measuring weather variables may help us understand the weather better.
  • Observing and measuring weather variables may help us identify weather patterns that help us predict the weather.
