Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities

 

  1. How can you tell which words in your writing are misspelled?
  1. What online resources could you use to locate information on your topic?
  1. Utilize images/pictures in your writing.
  1. Post your writing online to allow others to read and make suggestions for revisions.
  1. What type of software best suits the type of writing you are doing? Explain why.
  1. Read another student’s writing. Post suggestions that the student could take to improve their writing.

  1. Students should recognize that when using a word processing program, misspelled words are underlined.
  1. Students should name online resources that they could use to search for information.
  1. Students will search for a picture that has a clear connection to the writing. They will copy and paste the picture into their writing.
  1. Students will successfully post their writing to an assigned location. Other students will have access to the writing and will be able to offer suggestions to improve the writing.
  1. Students should consider the type of writing they have to decide which computer program would work best. Possible programs would be word processing or presentation software, such as PowerPoint. A presentation of information would work well with presentation software. A story would work best with a word processing program.
  1. Students will read and analyze another student’s writing. They will look for ways the student could improve the writing, and post these suggestions. They should identify words that need changed, details that need to be added or removed, and mistakes in spelling and/or grammar. They should point out any part of the writing that is confusing or unclear.
