Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

  1. What is the purpose of your presentation?
  1. Use a graphic organizer to organize your presentation.
  1. Describe good presentation skills.
  1. Compose a report that will be presented orally to the class.
  1. Create a visual aid to use during your presentation.

Answer Key/Rubric

  1. Students will identify who will be listening to their presentation.
  1. Students will identify the purpose of their presentation. They will tell whether they are trying to entertain, persuade, explain, or inform.
  1. Students will use a graphic organizer to organize information for the presentation. They should determine what information will be used and when it will fall in the presentation.
  1. Possible skills include:
  1. Making eye contact with the audience
  2. Speaking at an appropriate volume
  3. Speaking at an appropriate speed
  4. Providing opportunities for questions at the conclusion of the presentation
  1. Students will research and write a report on a topic. They should include facts, details, and definitions in a well-organized manner. When presenting, students should speak at an appropriate speed and volume.
  1. Students will create a visual aid to use during the presentation. Possible choices are a PowerPoint presentation, poster, chart, or graph. The visual aid should enhance the understanding of the topic.
