Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

  1. Student lists verbs in the active voice. Verbs used in the active voice signify action performed by the subject of a sentence. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  1. Student lists verbs in the passive voice. Verbs used in the passive voice signify action that is performed to or on the subject of a sentence. Verbs in the passive voice are past participles with a form of the verb “to be” proceeding it. Examples include, but are not limited to:
  • Was read
  • Were taught
  • Is sung
  1. Student identifies examples of verbs in the active voice in a text. The student correctly identifies examples of verbs used in the active voice in the sentences of various texts.
