Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons

  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

  1. A local amusement park recorded the number of people that attended its first three days of being open.  Put the days in order of least to greatest attendance.

  1. Put the following numbers in order from least to greatest:  9,457   9,857   9,557   9,157
    Explain how you determined the order.

  2. The following table shows the number of girls and boys that participated in each sport.  Put the sports in order of most popular overall to least popular overall.  Explain.

  • The only place these numbers differ is in the hundred’s place, so that is the only number I really need to look at
  • Looking at the numbers in the hundred’s place, I know 1 is the smallest, then 4, then 5, then 8 is the largest.

  • Find the total for each sport
    Soccer:  44 + 57 = 101
    Swim:  61 + 42 = 103
