Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

  1. Last year Kelly made twenty three thousand, eight hundred dollars from working at her job.  Payton earned thirty three thousand, two hundred eighteen dollars from working at her job.  Who made the least amount of money? Justify your answer.

  • To compare the numbers, start with the largest place value and look for differences in each place value.
  • First difference occurs in the hundreds place, compare those numbers
    • The 8 in this years fundraising total means 800
    • The 7 in last years fundraising total means 700
    • 800 is greater than 700
  1. Kelly made the least amount of money.

Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:

  • Kelly made twenty three thousand, eight hundred which is 23,800 in standard form
