Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities

  1. Use a model to show and then solve.
  2. Show using a number line.  Then write an equation to show the answer.

 

 

  1. Abby is making 5 batches of cookies for her classmates.  Each batch needs . of sugar, but Abby can only find the measuring cup.  How many cups will Abby have to use to make sure she has the correct amount of sugar for the total batches that she is making? Show your work.
  1. Write an equivalent expression to as the product of a different whole number and a different fraction. Explain your work.

  • Find the total amount of sugar needed for the recipe by multiplying the batches by the amount of sugar in one batch
  • total cups of sugar needed
  • You need to find out how many cups are used to get the cups needed

  • Abby needs to use the measuring cup 15 times to make the 5 batches of cookies for her class.
