Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  • Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
  • Questions/activities that grow in complexity
  • Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance

Activities

Questions 1 and 2: Use the line plot about newborn baby weights to answer the following questions.

  1. What is the difference between the two weights in the line plot that both have two babies at that weight?
  1. What is the total weight of all the babies that weigh ?

 

Questions 3 – 5: Use the line plot below that shows students’ test scores from a quiz with 8 questions.

  1. How many students scored above?
  1. What is the difference between the student with the highest score and the student with the lowest score?
  1. What is the score if you add the two lowest grades in the class?

Question 6: Use the line plot below showing the amount of exercise Joe did in one week.

  1. What was the total amount of time Joe exercised this week?  Explain how you found your answer.
