The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

  1. Mary took her dog to the vet for its yearly exam.  When they weighed the dog the vet said is weight had a change of pounds.  Last year the vet had recorded that the dog’s weight change was pounds.  What was the dogs total weight change over the past two years?  Show your work.
  1. The table below shows the golf scores of some friends that went out to play golf last weekend.  Answer the questions about the chart.

Part A) How many strokes better is Debbie’s score compared to Jessica’s score? Show your work.

Part B) What is the difference between Bill and Jim’s score? Show your work.

Part C) What is the sum of all the golfers’ scores? Show your work.

  1. The sum of three numbers is -51.74.  If one of the numbers is 10.5 and the other two numbers are the same value, what are the missing numbers? Show your work.
  1. A student opened a bank account with $350 that they have saved.  Each week that student will deposit $25 into the account.  After 1 month has gone by the student has made 2 purchases using the money from the account.  One was for books that cost $27.55 and the other was for music online and that was a total of $9.99.  Write an expression using addition and subtraction to find out the accounts current balance.  Then solve the expression.  Show your work.
