Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

  1. Bill has pounds of hamburger meat.  He wants to split it up into  pound burgers. How many burgers can he make?
  1. Abby is making a necklace that is inches long.  She is placing a colorful bead every  inch. How many beads will she need to make the necklace?
  1. A hiking trail needs to have markers placed every  mile.  If the trail is 18 miles long, how many markers do you need?
  1. Donna is baking a cookie recipe that calls for  cups of sugar. However, when she goes to take out her measuring cups she can only find the one-half cup measuring cup. How many one-half cups will she need to fill to get the correct amount of sugar for her cookie recipe?
  1. Sandy knows the area of her rectangular living room is  ft2. She wants to rearrange her furniture and already measured the length of the room as  feet. She needs to find the width to determine if her two couches that are each 8 feet in length will fit along this wall but can’t find a tape measure in her home. Explain to her a different way to find the width of the room. Then, find it to determine if the couches will fit.
