  • Domain - 3.1: Life Science
  • Grade Band - 3.1.6-8: 6-8
  • Strand - 3.1.6-8: Structure, Function, and Information Processing
Standard - 3.1.6-8.B

Students who demonstrate understanding can develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and the ways the parts of cells contribute to the function.

  • Clarifying Statement - 3.1.6-8.B.CS Emphasis is on the cell functioning as a whole system and the primary role of identified parts of the cell, specifically the nucleus, chloroplasts, mitochondria, cell membrane, and cell wall.
  • Assessment Boundary - 3.1.6-8.B.AB Assessment of organelle structure/function relationships is limited to the cell wall and cell membrane.
